Kızkalesi Municipality,bound to Mersin-Erdemli,63km away from Mersin,23km away from Erdemli that D-400 way passes in it and that it is the frontier of Erdemli and Silifke,is a town with 990 hectares.Their living source is mostly tourism.Also,out of season vegetables,citrus fruits and sheeps or goats are other living sources.There are four neighbourhoods in our town.According to the last population counting it is 8139.Because it is a tourism town,its population is 30-40 thousand in summer.One out of three of the town is archeological site area.So,building is more intense in areas out of the archeological site areas.Building is 90% and it is more intense in Akdeniz and Mavideniz neighbourhoods.There are hotels and pensions there.Kızkalesi's name comes from the Corycos ruins inside and on the beach of the sea.Its history is based on 300BC and there are still ruins from that time.The municipality was founded in 1992.After the municipality was founded,firstly infrastructure was made,and there have been works on water,development plan,and way and social facilities.
